The Bayside Hills Civic Association is once again proudly sponsoring its annual Rick Skutch Memorial essay contest. We invite all 6th – 8th grade students to submit a short essay addressing the topic of civic engagement. Entrants may describe their role in civic affairs and how participation and fulfillment of their civic duty can impact the community and society. Themes may include but are not limited to sustainable, accessible, and equitable services, trash clean-up and graffiti removal, volunteer work and social issue advocacy.
All essays must be received by the BHCA on or before Friday, May 26, 2023. Essays can be emailed to baysidehillscivic@gmail.com or mailed to the BHCA at P.O. Box 640246, Bayside Hills, NY 11364.
Eligibility: Open to all 6th – 8th graders from a current 2023 dues paying BHCA household*
The winner will be announced in the Beacon newsletter and the $150 scholarship award will be presented at the June 2023 General Membership meeting.
We look forward to hearing how you are making our community more livable.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Michael Feiner, President
Bayside Hills Civic Association
